Capcom Announces Street Fighter X Mega Man
Capcom is celebrating two milestones: the 25th anniversaries of Street Fighter and Mega Man. We have heard a lot from the former, enjoying a lot of lavish promotions including a fancy chess set and anniversary editions of its titles.
But what of the Blue Robot? Its latest release, “Mega Man Xover,” is only available on iOS and first impressions of the side-scrolling game have not been positive. The last time Capcom released a Mega Man video game for consoles was two years ago, the downloadable “Mega Man 10.” Fans of the game were upset that Capcom does not seem to give priority to its “other” Silver Anniversary.
One Capcom super-fan, Seow “Sonic” Zong Hui from Singapore, took matters in his own hands and made a game following Mega Man’s 8-bit traditions. “Street Fighter X Mega Man” pits the Blue Bomber against sprite versions of Ryu, Ken, and six other World Warriors.
Capcom will release the PC downloadable game on December 17th and it is free through its official website, Capcom-Unity.com. The release serves as part of the “closing ceremonies of the 25th Anniversary of Street Fighter and kick off the festivities taking place in 2013,” when the Blue Bomber celebrates its own 25 years of greatness.
